Transportation

Getting here

Charlottesville is accessible by road, train, and airplane. We are served by the Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport (CHO) with flights to and from Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, Philadelphia, New York, and Washington D.C. By road, we’re just over 2 hours from Washington D.C. and 1 hour from Richmond. There’s a centrally located Greyhound bus station. Amtrak’s Cardinal and Crescent lines also run through Charlottesville.

Getting around

Charlottesville has two bus services: the free-to-use University Transit Service (UTS) that serves the campus area, and the Charlottesville Area Transit (CAT) that serves the City of Charlottesville. Please note that the schedules for each may vary during the summer recess. We recommend downloading the mobile apps for the UTS and CAT to view route maps and real-time bus schedules.

If you choose to drive, you can access parking both at the UVA campus (various locations) and in the City of Charlottesville (two locations).
